The draw for the 2017 Club World Cup

real

Real Madrid will play the semi-final on 13 December against Al-Jazira, Auckland City or the champions of Asia
Real Madrid know who they’ll come against as they look to defend the Club World Cup. Following the draw held in Abu Dhabi, the current champions have three potential opponents in the semi-final on 13 December (6pm CET, 9pm local time): Al-Jazira (UAE champions), Auckland City (Oceania) or the winner of the AFC Champions League (Asia). The first two teams will play each other with the winner facing the Asian champions to decide who plays against Zidane’s team for a place in the final.

On the other side of the draw, Mexico's Pachuca (Concacaf) have been paired with the winner of the CAF Champions League (Africa) for a place in the semi-final against the Conmebol champions. The final will take place on Saturday, 16 December (6pm CET, 9pm local time) and the match for third and fourth place will be played on the same day at 3pm CET (6pm local time). Real Madrid will play all their matches at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Butragueño’s evaluation
"If we play to our best we’ll have a good chances of reaching the final. There are two months until then and we’ve got a very demanding schedule in December, we have to bare that in mind. We know there may be surprises, football is becoming more even and the physical aspect is very important. Every game is going to be difficult and, compared to last year in Japan, the change in time zone is going to be much less noticeable".
