Man city makes new club record

Burnley%2Bpen

The club previously recorded 11 straight victories under Manuel Pellegrini between the 2014/15 and 2015/16 campaigns.

Manchester City's 3-0 win over Burnley took the club's run of consecutive victories to 11 – equalling their all-time record.

City began that run during the Chilean's reign on April 19, 2015 and their run of victories continued into the following campaign, ending on September 12, 2015.
Now the club have matched that record under Pep Guardiola's stewardship with their record of 11 straight victories coming in the same campaign.

On a landmark day at the Etihad, Sergio Aguero struck a first-half penalty to draw level with Eric Brook on 177 goals as the club's all-time record goalscorer.

It means that if City overcome Wolves in Tuesday's Carabao Cup clash they will record a new club record of 12 wins in a row.
"The record is good if you lift something, titles or a trophy. It means a lot. Of course it is not easy to win 11 in a row, so it's good," Pep said afterwards.

City's historic run of success this season began back on August 26 with their dramatic 2-1 win at Bournemouth.

Since that success at Dean Court, the Blues have won a further six games in a row in the Premier League, beating Liverpool, Watford, Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Stoke and now Burnley.
City have also recorded three straight victories in their Champions League pool – away at Feyenoord and at home to Shakhtar Donetsk and Napoli together with victory at West Brom in the Carabao Cup.
