The 24-year-old striker, who joined the Blues from La Liga reigning champions Real Madrid during the summer transfer window, was forced off in the first-half of the side’s 1-0 defeat at home to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City with a hamstring injury on Saturday.
The Spain international had tests on his hamstring on Monday and it was discovered that the in-form striker has suffered a grade two hamstring strain. Following the tests, the Spain national team officially announced that Alvaro Morata, as well as Dani Carvajal and Andres Iniesta, had withdrawn from La Furia Roja squad for the World Cup qualifiers.
It is understood taht the Chelsea attacker could be out of action for at least two weeks with the hamstring problem.
The former Madrid and Juventus star will hope to return for the Blues’ matches with Crystal Palace and Roma after the international break.
It is expected that Antonio Conte will put Michy Batshuayi in the starting XI of Chelsea during the absence of the Spanish centre-forward.
