Umar-Durbunde, told The Punch on Thursday, June 1, that his abductors who were 14 in number were well-armed with deadly weapons.
I met 14 of them; they were armed to the teeth. They all carried guns, daggers and knives; it was terrible.
“At a point, they threatened that they would slaughter me. Those people are fearless, ruthless; they can kill anybody.” Although Umar-Durbunde, who represents Sumaila/Takai Federal Constituency of Kano state, admitted that ransom was paid, he however declined to give the figure. But unconfirmed reports have that amount of N10m was raised to secure the lawmaker’s freedom. The kidnappers reportedly demanded N60m initially. NAIJ.com had earlier reported that A member of the House of Representatives, representing Sumaila/Takai federal constituency of Kano state, Garba Durbunde was on Tuesday, May 30, kidnapped. He was abducted while driving to Kano from Abuja.
